A Promise for the Poor – the Salt of the Earth

This post is to reach people with no hope to convince them that they have good reason to hope. The key to understanding this is to be able to zoom out, as it were. We have to exercise the vision that the Almighty has so generously given us and see that the life we are caught up in right now is but a small part of a reality that is difficult – but not impossible – to comprehend. At least we have the opportunity to comprehend enough of it to understand where we fit in the grand scheme.

God, our Creator, left us a road map so that we can find Him. He also left us with the promise of another life after this one. There are many religions in our world, and they teach many differing accounts of our existence and our future, and I don’t want to get too far into what their adherents believe, because the intent of this post is to share what I have been taught by the Spirit of God. What I believe is real – God has brought me through storms in this life that I don’t see many others having to endure. I understand we all have our own bumpy roads to travel, and I can only speak of my own experiences. Following the road map that God left us has worked for me, and since it has, I’m bound to share what I have learned.

We all have a need to connect, a yearning in our hearts to learn what our lives are all about, and it’s like we all walk around with this electric cord in our hand looking for a place to plug it in. Once we locate the correct receptacle, we expect to be able to power up our inquisitive minds and find the answers we all seek. Ok, maybe that’s a weak analogy, but you get the idea. Please hear me out – I’m writing to tell you that the only place you can connect to find the meaning of life is Jesus Christ. He is the only Being in all of this crowded universe that can direct our paths to the Kingdom of the Almighty God. In the Holy Bible, He tells us: [John 14:6]:”Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

This passage gives us a lot of information if we study it. The Christian religion, for those who faithfully follow it, recognizes Jesus as the source of all truth. The religion of Islam even recognizes Jesus, who they call Isa, to be a great prophet, so if He is indeed a prophet, and prophets don’t lie, then when He says He is the only way to God, He is giving us the greatest bit of information a human being can embrace. I do not consider Christianity to only be another religion of many in the world. Jesus Christ stands triumphantly upon the top of all of the world’s religions. The very last thing I want to do is to offend anyone of any other faith, but I’m here to tell you that if you’ll just look at how the world is shaping up in these later days, you can easily see with which faith that Satan, from whence all evil emanates, has chosen to do battle. It is Christianity – faithful Christians are being persecuted and executed in several places in the world.

It’s painfully obvious that many peoples of all walks are dying in diverse places by the sword, but as opposed to ethnicities who have been historically persecuted because of their behavior, Christians are dying because of their faith. This has happened throughout history – Christians died before the crowds in the Roman coliseum. The Catholic church, in the dark ages a bastion of evil, burned Christian believers at the stake for heresy if their beliefs were not approved by the “church”. The Bible, in Revelations 12 metaphorically speaks of a woman giving birth to a male child and a vicious dragon (Satan) was standing before her to kill the child as soon as it was born, but the child (Jesus) was taken up to Heaven and the dragon waged war on the woman (the true Church) thereafter. The dragon is indeed waging war on Jesus’ people, but we do not fear him, for our Lord is greater. We may end up leaving this life as He did, but our reward awaits us in the next. When you’ve been around in this world as long as I have, you realize this world has nothing to offer – regardless of what the decadent wealthy people would have you think. Our time here is short, but the next life will last forever.

Jesus referred to us common folk as the salt of the earth, meaning we have more value than we realize, but we must keep our “flavor”. We must accept our stations in life, no matter how humble – in fact, the poor will inherit eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven. [Luke 6:20]: “And he (Jesus) lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.When we get caught up in the lusts and the desires of the world and choose to follow after the ways of the worldly people – the rich – we start to lose our flavor; our saltiness, and when this happens, we become worthless to Him. We are good for nothing anymore other than to be trampled underfoot by those people we want to be like. [Matthew 5:13]: “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.”

You, no matter how poor, how hopeless, or destitute, are exactly the person that Jesus Christ is seeking to invite into His magnificent Kingdom. If you are burdened with a heavy load of sins from your past, He stands ready to forgive you and wash your sins away with His own precious blood. It is not humanly possible to understand how much He loves you. He died for you so that you would get this opportunity to accept His offer of eternal life, such is His desire to have fellowship, companionship with you. What a Friend! All authority on earth and in Heaven has been given to Him, and one day He will return to collect His people who will be given kingship with Him. The evil ones who run the world now – in service to Satan – will finally see justice. Unfortunately, a lot of people who are not in leadership positions but have lost their saltiness to desires of the flesh, will not be allowed into the Kingdom either.

Losing the chance to receive eternal life in the Paradise of God will be an unimaginable loss, and it is very easy to avoid. The only thing we have to do is to accept Jesus Christ for who He says He is, repent and be baptized into His Church. We must live for Him, and if the situation requires it, we must be prepared to die for Him as have so many martyrs before us. It might look to be a fearsome fate, but death is something we all must endure anyway, and it would be much easier to endure when the time comes, knowing that we are but moments from joining Him in Paradise.

Regardless of what Satan would have you believe, living for Jesus ain’t half bad. Choosing to live a Spiritual life gives us an opportunity to appreciate God’s creation in ways that worldly people don’t understand. We learn some meaningful things about our lives and the lives of others that we wouldn’t have explored without the Spirit to reveal them to us. Jesus said: [Revelation 2:17]: “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.” That hidden manna nourishes us spiritually and gives us knowledge that is only reserved for Jesus’ people, and it can only come from the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

Wherever you are, whatever your station in life, Jesus stands at the door of your heart and knocks. He said if you but open the door for Him that He would come into your heart and dine with you – and you with Him. That means He is ready to walk with you – all the way to that magnificent Kingdom He promises you – and Jesus Christ keeps His promises. Will you open the door?

Forget this world – there’s nothing here for decent people anyways. Look to the light of Jesus Christ’s salvation. I can promise you’ll be eternally glad you did. Please share this post with friends, relatives, and people you don’t know – our time here is getting very short and our love for Jesus and each other is all that matters now. This site is not monetized, so I don’t need the numbers – not on this earth anyways, but I would like to help the message of salvation get spread far and wide – especially to the salt of the earth in places like Appalachia, the Ozarks, and as far as the Tondo in Manila, Khayelitsha in Cape Town, Kibera in Nairobi, Dharavi in Mumbai, Ciudad Neza in Mexico City, Orangi Town in Karachi, Kangari in Nairobi, Mathre in Nairobi, Rocinha in Rio de Janero, Makoko in Lagos, and folks in Indonesia and Malaysia. Jesus loves you all! Remember that great angel flying across the world with the Gospel! [Revelation 14:6]: “And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people…”

May the blessings of the Almighty Father find and keep us.
